Job Description
You will join our Building Department
Ramboll is committed to building our business here in the Middle East and to improve our capture rate for projects in the region. We are taking the next step in this regard with the addition of a new Design Manager .
The Design Manager will be part of the Middle East Buildings Team. They will report to the Head of Projects.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Be able to engage with the client on behalf of every discipline related to their packages
- Outline the package scope and ensure full understanding of deliverables, timings and client and authority requirements
- Take full ownership of deliverables register of the package and ensure all disciplines and sub consultants deliver to that register
- Review and check deliverables register for each package prior to implementation
- Drive coherence and quality of the package submissions, ensuring synergies between disciplines
- Review and approve all individual submissions that arrive from the disciplines ensuring that a fully integrated design approach has been followed (synergies and compliance)
- Upwards - report to the PM any deliverables deficiencies, scope gaps, timing issues or resourcing issues.
- Work closely with the design team to ensure quality and integrity of the package’s submissions adhering to the design assurance protocol
- Lead all technical coordination meeting with client and authorities with regards to the lead package
- Lead all internal coordination meetings with the Architect, internal Ramboll team and Subconsultants
- Ensure all disciplines are obtaining the required information from their design party counterparts as needed throughout the project lifecycle
- Responsible for maintaining a design action tracker to track discipline progress and ensure all design team requirements are met
- Work closely with the BIM delivery lead to ensure the BIM Model is well coordinated and resolve clashes as they arise
- Ensure that all RFIs related to the package are responded on a timely manner and to the appropriate quality and lever of information
- Manage and liaise with all discipline core leads with the appropriate integrity to ensure non bias approach to any discipline (independent approach)
- Avoid any commercial or contractual conversations with the client and ensure that he escalates immediately to the PM.
- Face of the total package in front of the client and is the single point of contact with regards to package general issues. Disciplines still maintain contact with Design manager with regards to technical issues
- Liaises closely with the lead consultant architect to ensure coordination of the package and resolution of any issues arising from authority requirements and approvals
- Review at the request of the PM efficiencies and resource overruns for disciplines but also being proactive to highlighting resource deficiencies or capacity issues within disciplines
- Maintain a compliance and checking list (register) to ensure adequate audit trail through the review process (checklist)
- Ensuring that MOM are being kept through technical meetings and review and approve prior issuing via Document controller
- Adheres to instructions by the Project Manager with regards project delivery, scope issues and any other issues regarding governance

- Bachelor's and/ or higher Degree in Construction related field.
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, MBA, or related fields is a plus
- 10+ years of experience in the construction industry with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Design management.
- Sound people management skills and ability to harmonize working relationships between team members from different cultural and technical backgrounds.
- Multi-disciplinary knowledge and ability to engage with technical experts from different backgrounds
- Experienced at:
- Presenting to clients/authorities
- Attending authority/client meetings
- Preparing project proposals for agreement
- Arranging project resources
- Planning and running projects.
