Your new role and team

As our new Design Structural Engineer, you will be part of our award-winning London structures team, delivering projects that range from zero carbon towers in the City of London to bamboo houses as part of disaster relief in Lombok. From innovative low vibration laboratories to our most treasured historic buildings, we actively seek a rich portfolio of work that makes a difference to those who experience it. Working with the leading UK and international architects we are recognised for our bold innovative approach that is underpinned by our Scandinavian design heritage and foundation ownership. Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Develop and agree structural concepts and design philosophies
  • Carrying out structural design, analysis and FEM modelling
  • Site visits
  • Communicating designs to team members & construction sites
  • Participating in technical groups and team meetings to support continuous improvement
  • Own the design process for a work package (size suitable for level of experience)
  • Join Ramboll’s ICE or IStructE training scheme and make demonstrable progress in achieving relevant attributes toward Chartership
  • Contribute to our efforts in reaching our London Structures’ goals and aspirations, which include Projects we are proud of, Sustainability, Digital Design, Team Culture, Learning and Knowledge and Work Winning

About you

Whilst we look forward to supporting your continued learning and development, for this role we have identified some qualifications, skills, and capabilities that will set you up for success.

These include:

  • Working towards Chartership with the IStructE, ICE or international equivalent
  • Ability to design reinforced concrete, steel and/or timber
  • Experience of/interest in digital and parametric design
  • Experience of structural analysis tools (Autodesk Robot and Tekla Structures)
  • Knowledge of assessment, retrofit and alteration of existing structures
  • Highly skilled in technical report writing
  • Effective communication skills and ability to explain complex engineering principles in plain language, verbally, in writing and through sketching
  • A keen interest for sustainable solutions
  • A multidisciplinary mindset and an aptitude for learning about the wider aspects of building design
