The purpose of this Junior SEO Executive role is to provide support and implementation of CMO Group’s SEO strategy, encompassing on-page SEO, short and long-form content, and technical SEO. You don’t need to have a wealth of SEO knowledge for this position, we’re looking for someone with a passion for learning and developing their skillset, ready to dive in and form a key part of our in-house SEO team.
The right candidate for this role will be a strong independent worker, using their initiative to drive toward business goals. We must strike the perfect balance between customer and commercial so our newest Junior SEO Executive must be able to digest data from various sources to understand the full picture.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Identify and implement on-page SEO elements like H1s, meta descriptions, meta titles, and on-page customer-facing text
Carry out keyword research and competitor analysis in your day-to-day role, sharing this with other stakeholders
Own and develop key merchandising/SEO elements of our sites (i.e. attributes, internal site search)
Maintain, identify opportunities for, and then implement changes to site structure and navigation using SEO and UX best practices
Suggest, write and implement new or refreshed content across all stores as appropriate
Upload, edit and format third party articles for Help & Advice across all stores, optimising this content and adding internal links where appropriate
Action recommendations from technical audits, checking in with key stakeholders
Collaborate with Trading, Category and the wider Marketing team to deliver our SEO strategy with commercial and customer in mind
Competently use industry tools like Ahrefs, Google Search Console and Screaming Frog to carry out your role
Learn and develop your skills in technical SEO, working with other in-house specialists
Work proactively with Trading, Category and the wider Marketing team as they submit JIRA tickets with commercial-led suggestions or site changes
This is a hybrid position. Our new Junior SEO Executive will be spending 3 days a week in our office in Plymouth.
Requirements
Minimum 1 year SEO experience in previous role desired but not essential
Excellent demonstrable copywriting experience or excellent written communication skills
High attention to detail
Adaptable and a fast learner – can you pick up new tasks quickly?
Keenness to learn & develop SEO knowledge & experience with management support
Good time management skills
Open and honest communicator – mistakes and uncertainties are how we learn!
