Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate engineering manager who has previous hands-on engineering experience to join the Software Engineering team. The role of a Software Engineering Manager is multifaceted and is as critical to the success of the organization as having great engineers and great teams. The software engineering manager is responsible for fueling teams that deliver value to the organization. The manager will positively impact the performance and productivity of their team. In addition, the manager is responsible for creating an environment and conditions where employees feel motivated to produce the necessary business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Management of project logistics to consistently deliver working systems on time 
• Pushing team toward project milestones 
• Removing obstacles blocking engineers from achieving tasks
• Look for opportunities to advance engineers career goals 
• Communicate technical direction to both technical and non-technical stakeholders 
• Provide clear alignment and direction between team members. 
• Explain why decisions are made, why people should care, how it advances company goals 
• Learn to debug problems with teams, projects. 
• Have fun, a sense of humor and develop camaraderie 

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or engineering-related field
• 3+ years in a management role or leadership training (preference given to those with engineering management experience)
• Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organizational skills
• Hands-on engineering experience that can be leveraged by subordinate engineers
• Passionate about fostering good engineering practices and processes
• Experience developing a strategy and roadmap for your teams
• May need to obtain and maintain a security clearance for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

• Active U.S. Government security clearance
• Software development experience
• Proven proposal writing experience  

Pay Range:  $130,000 - $155,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

This position is based out of ARKA’s Colorado Springs, CO campus. If you like city life, but also enjoy the great outdoors, Colorado Springs is the place for you. The city rests at the base of Pikes Peak. The 14,115-foot summit is just one of dozens of area attractions, including scenic trains, museums, parks, a zoo and more. With a mild climate and plenty of sunshine, the Springs boasts some of the state’s best recreation opportunities. The city is also known for its robust high-tech and sports industries. We are home to the U.S. Air Force Academy and four military bases and with the Olympic Training Center and dozens of sports federations nearby, it’s common to spot world-class athletes around town.
