Job Description

Danfoss in Tallahassee, FL is searching for a Power Electronics Intern. The intern will assist the Electronics Engineering team with developing new power electronics for our next generation of products. The intern will play an integral role in supporting the design, integration, and validation of these new power electronics.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following. 

• • Participating in schematic and PCB layout design reviews looking for deficiencies or improvements
  • Performing validation tests of new power electronic products to ensure they meet our requirements
  • Hardware prototyping / modifying to verify or improve function performance
  • Reviewing bill-of-materials to find improvements to the design or sourcing
  • Investigating hardware failures to find root causes and determine corrective actions

The ideal candidate possesses these skills. 

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
• Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering
• Sound knowledge of traditional and modern power electronic technologies including but not limited to:
  • • Inverter technology for motor variable speed drive (IGBT, MOSFET, rectifiers and PWM technologies)
    • Power electronics system architecture design and hardware integration
    • DC-DC converters (hard switching and soft switching)
    • Gate driver technologies (for Si devices and new WBG devices)
• Experience with motor drive and power converters (AC-DC, DC-DC, DC-AC) control technologies
• Experience in control, circuit, and system simulation tools (PSpice, LTspice, MATLAB, PSIM)
• Able to contribute as a member of an organized project team of engineers
• Analytical and technical skills with a strong desire to learn
• Experience with lab equipment (Multimeters, Power Supplies, Oscilloscopes, Soldering Irons)
