Job Description

Performs duties to insure the timely and proper movement of material in the warehouse to shipping locations to meet delivery deadlines. A shipping assistant is part of a team performing several functions necessary to maintain a well-organized shipping area in the finish goods.

Job Responsibilities

• Process outgoing shipments.
• Accurately verify item and quantities against Delivery Note.
• Paperwork on products and quantities shipped.
• Maintain accurate control and location of stock movement.
• Accurate movement of stock between the warehouse and stocking locations.
• Oversee the loading and unloading of trucks.
• Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Package, ship and receive orders via UPS, DHL, Federal Express, Airborne, conventional air and common LTL carriers.
• Available to work overtimes and weekends as needed by the business.

The ideal candidate possesses these skills: 

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified or licensed to operate material handling equipment i.e. like forklifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Computer experience
• Export compliance, planning and managing freight forwarders.
• 0 to 2 years shipping / warehouse experience

• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time on concrete floors.
• Ability to get along with co-workers. Strong team player.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Team oriented - gets along well with others
• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
